Stag 'Gunpowder Charcoal', a unique mix of English Alder & Lebanon Cedar.
The inspiration for this charcoal has come from a number of sources, starting with the Alder which was sourced from The Waltham Abbey Royal Gunpowder Mills, where Alder was traditionally coppiced and made into charcoal before being transformed into gunpowder. As a firewood Cedar is traditionally a fierce timber that "crackles" & "pops" as the resin within the timber ignites.
When cooked into charcoal these two woods transform into something very special, the Cedar lights easily, gets up to temperature reasonably well and does so with glass-cracking sounds. Producing a sweet yet delicate scent as it burns.
Alder makes one of the best charcoals. with a sweet, lightly smoky flavour, with a controlled burn.
This then is The Gunpowder Mix
Great with white meat and fish, sausages, burgers and chicken.
This charcoal is sure to be popular and won’t be around for long.
